GiftWorks: Nonprofit Fundraising Software

Upcoming News from Mission Research

March 14, 2008

I heard from Pat Weaver back in January, who runs our consulting program, that one of her consultants heard that we were being acquired. By one of our competitors that charges a lot more than we do. And I was startled to hear that, because it didn't come from us, which means someone else said it.

Because we're not being acquired, we're growing, we're investing in new features and improvements, we're expanding our support, we're building out our dev team, and we're the fastest growing software company serving nonprofits, hands down. The only company with more customers is Blackbaud, which is quite happy to charge them an average of $40,000 per installation. And that's not something we want to be a part of.

We do have some news: product news, company news, and partner news, each significant and big in its own way. This is the place for GiftWorks and Mission Research news. Stay tuned.

Unfortunately your lack of news or even hints has led our organization to be concerned that this company wasn't producing anything new. As a result, we even started pricing out eTapestry.

It also has kept me from recommending to other nonprofits your software because I sound like I'm recommending notecards when I refer to something as "2006."

I like the product, but I hope to see where this is headed in the future soon.

I hear ya--we've been quiet for some time about product as we've undertaken some positive byt time-consuming changes internally to address our growth. So sorry--we've really been quiet too long.

We're working on GiftWorks 2008. The upgrade for customers will be available in April, and for new customers it's available starting Monday.

Mary Pat Donnellon will be posting later today to give more insight into the roadmap.

Thanks!

I also had the same concerns, but more product-specific, seeing that the forums had gotten quiet and product development had *apparently* slowed to a halt over the past 18 months. Now that i know the price tag attached to the solutions of problems we've been articulating in the forums (hopefully), i feel a little stung. Couldn't someone have answered in the forums that improvements were on the way in spring of 200X in a whole new version and priced upgrade? And it would be nice to have known sooner that this was coming down the pike, so we could have been budgeting it ahead of release. Now we may need to wait up to a year to spring for the 2008 upgrade by which time it will be 2009 and who knows where things will be then. We don't need to keep up with the Jones', just a product that has solid input, throughput and output capacity. Guess our time has come to pay the piper. I think we'd like him better if he'd hinted at the price and payment schedule ahead of time! :-)
